This piece is inspired by – and uses as a source – the wonderful vocals of artist Jan Harrison’s ‘Animal Tongues’. My recordings of her vocals were originally used as source material for my performance last summer with composer Kim Cascone, at the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, NY. This rendering evokes more of a layered chorus, and seems to bring to mind the Sirens of Greek Mythology.
