Pyramid 1 – 2000Homage For Pierre – 4:34
The Pierre referred to here is Pierre Henry – the pioneering composer of musique concrète, whose wonderful piece ‘Le Voyage’ was the inspiration for this. I recently dug up my very old vinyl copy of ‘Le Voyage’, and am now in the process of digitizing and restoring it. The sound source for my piece is a short alto sax note, and some of the processed results are reminiscent (to me at least) of some of Henry’s piece.

Waves For Lou – 5:32
The Lou referred to here is Lou Reed. After a recent re-listening of ‘Metal Machine Music‘, I was inspired to try a bit of sonic alchemy – by taking a 20 second segment of the 2nd track (my favorite of the 4) and processing/mixing to create a more flowing, textural feel. The attempt here was to coax a kind of ‘antinoise’ out of the noise of the original – not that there is anything bad about the original. I like it quite a bit. My apologies to Mr. Reed, but I think the results are worth listening to.
