Blast from the Past

Primal Flame – 2008It’s always an interesting exercise for me to delve into the ‘oeuvre’. Some of my past work is truly embarrasing to me, while others still stand the test of time. These three pieces are all from such past endeavors I find interesting.
Cosmogony – Ambient Mix – 6:04
This piece, originally conceived of as a result of an *accident* – a glitch whereby my MIDI keyboard output a tone cluster that sustained until I eventually turned it off after recording it, was originally part of a CD I produced in 1999, entitled ‘Feed”. It had a drum track in the middle, which I removed for this remix, resulting in more of an ambient texture.
Necronomicon – Interlude Remix – 2:25
This is a remix of a short section of a much older piece than the above, entitled ‘Necronomicon’, inspired both by the *fake* book of the same name and the artwork of H.R. Giger. The original work was a very heavy-handed, overblown MIDI symphony, which for the most part is forgettable. This small section held my interest, however, and it was further processed in the time and grain density domains.
Glorious Archangel – Apostate Mix – 2:32
This was also originally from ‘Necronomicon’, but the version I used for this remix was itself a remix included in a CD release of mine entitled ‘Strange Little Worlds’. That version, called ‘Glorious Archangel – Ecumenical Mix’ was longer with a middle section containing some textural percussion sounds, all of which I removed for this remix, as well as processing the remainder further.
